GALLERY: Maragon celebrates National Book Week

RUIMSIG – Maragon Private Schools teachers and pupils recently celebrated National Book Week in style.

In the spirit of National Book Week and early childhood reading, Maragon Private Schools hosted a book character dress-up day on 4 September.

Pupils and teachers braved the cold weather, stepped out of reality into fantasy and dressed in a host of characters such as, Harry Potter and the Musketeer.

As part of the book celebration, pupils brought their favourite books to school and shared their favourite stories.

According to marketing manager of Maragon Group Belinda Espag, the school encourages pupils to read from a younger age.

“At Maragon we believe in the importance of reading,” said Espag.

“Children must be read to every night before sleeping as this, not only creates a love for reading, but also enhances the bond between parent and child,” she added.

Espag also said when children start reading from a younger age they will enhance and develop their long-term memory.

She also said reading at a young age helps children to extend their vocabulary and general knowledge.
