GALLERY: SA bachelor finalist holds soupy fundraiser

HONEYDEW – Wayne Stafford raises R5 000 at Eagle Canyon fundraiser.

It’s possible SA Bachelor and Bachelorette creator Jacques Momberg didn’t realise just how big the competition would become. But now in its fifth year, the contestants seem to have upped the ante and one, Wayne Stafford, doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.

On 30 July Eagle Canyon Golf Estate played host to Stafford’s ‘Soup and Vetkoek’ evening. Tickets were R100 per person and guests were treated to a variety of donated homemade soups and fresh vetkoek supplied by Eagle Canyon.

It was an intimate setting, minimally decorated, and saxophonist Barry Snyman kept the mood of the evening relaxed. Aside from the ticket sales, Amadea Safe House also took donations. Despite a turnout of only half of who were expected, the evening was a success with R5 000 raised.

Highlights included a presentation on Amadea, as well as a furniture donation to the house. Nicci Bakos of Bakos Brothers was present to hand over the certificate of donation to Rina Malan of Amadea. The donation included a coffee table and a lounge suite.

Judges Jacques Momberg, Rialien Furstenburg, Brenda Dooge and Karen van Huyssteen showed their support for the evening. Also present were current SA Bachelor Guy Saben and runner-up Johan Anker; both of whom commended Stafford on his efforts.

Stafford’s next event, “An Evening with the Stars”, will take place on 1 September at Room5 in Rivonia. Tickets are available from Stafford directly.
