Aspen’s 67 minutes initiative helps Blair Atholl Primary

LANSERIA – The Blair Atholl Primary School benefited in many ways from 67 minutes Mandela initiative, provided by Aspen Pharmacare.

Pupils of Blair Atholl Primary School in Lanseria, will now study in a healthy environment. This is a result of the 67 minutes initiative by Aspen Pharmacare, which extended its helping hand to the school on 17 July.

The school benefitted in various ways through Aspen Pharmacare making every day a Mandela Day initiative. The kitchen was upgraded, front entrance to the school and gardening areas were revamped.

Principal Judy Ayres said the school was in dire need of a better studying environment. “When we have these major projects and activities happening, I feel very blessed,” she explained.

She indicated that the Aspen initiative, will have a positive and direct impact on the pupils. “They planted 200 prickly pear trees. These plants were in fact chosen because they will deter thieves from entering the school premises,” Principal Ayres explained.

Aspen CEO Noel Guliwe said schools such as Blair Atholl situated in the remote areas were not receiving enough attention. “This is an opportunity for us to work with this school. The teachers here, are committed and require our support,” Guliwe said.

He added that they had to do the little they could to bring change to the children’s lives. “We should not allow children from disadvantaged backgrounds to receive a lesser privileged education,” he concluded.
