Maragon’s hockey takedown

RUIMSIG — Maragon educators teach the hockey girls a lesson on the field.

There were whispers in the hallways and bickering about who would win as Maragon’s teachers and pupils made their way to the hockey field recently.

Straight after school, the high school student body members and many of the primary school pupils, set off to the Astro turf in Ruimsig with high expectations of both the first team girls’ hockey team and the high school staff. Many expected the first team to win and the teachers to lose – not only the match but their pride as well, but the scoreboard is never wrong.

On that chilly afternoon, everyone sat on the edge of their seats watching the game. There were hoots and hollers from all over the place as the teachers and first team ran back and forth for the ultimate bragging rights.

While many of the teachers were inexperienced, they played as though they had more than one good match behind their names.

The game ended with the teachers winning with a score of 7–1. The girls played well. However, victory was out of reach.
