Watch the Black Eagles live on webcam

POORTVIEW – Africam step in to assist Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens with Black Eagle webcam upgrade.

The Black Eagles in Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens have gained such status and admiration under photographers and residents in the area, that it forced the Gardens to install a webcam better known as the Eagle Webcam to monitor them.

Spokesperson at the gardens Ronny Tshabalala explained that the eagles drew much attention last year as their fledgling left the nest in September and they moved out of their nest during November and December as two Peregrine falcons moved in. The falcons were on there way again at the end of December and the eagles returned shortly thereafter.

“The two eagles have always drawn attention to the gardens and it seems like they are playing the two lead roles in a TV drama and that is why we decided to install the webcams in 2014.”

He added that the team at Africam decided to take it upon themselves and upgrade the webcam on 20 and 21 January.

“They are going to improve the reliability of the webcam and they have already moved the camera to a strategic spot to enable the viewers to see the eggs and the chicks.”

He added that the camera will be upgraded to HD resolution.

“In addition they will also install new sound for better quality and less waterfall noise.”

“We want to thank Africam for their assistance and help in the Black Eagle webcam project,” concluded Tshabalala.
