Storm behind power outage
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Storm cause big power outage in large parts of Roodepoort.

Large parts of Roodepoort were without power for most of Thursday afternoon. Traffic was backed up on all major roads, causing serious delays. It is understood that a the outage was caused by the storm.
One of residents who was affected by the outage is Yvonne Saunders. “It usually takes me 10 minutes to get home, but yesterday I was stuck in traffic for over an hour because all traffic lights were off,” said the furious Saunders.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that a lightning struck a substation in Kloofendaal and also left trees on top of some over head lines in the area, leading to the outage.
