Wet conditions result in multiple road accidents
STRUBEN'S VALLEY – Officials warn motorists to drive with caution as multiple accidents occur in the wet weather.
A biker sustained moderate injuries on 13 January when he collided with another vehicle on Hendrik Potgieter and Christiaan de Wet roads.
According to Heinrich Nel from Help24, the biker collided with another car when he tried to take the off-ramp.
“The rider suffered minor to moderate injuries, just a few abrasions on the knees and arms. He was transported to Flora Clinic by ER24.”
The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries. Nel says while they were on the scene, two other vehicles collided on the same road, but luckily there were no injuries.
“Road users need to slow down on the roads, especially in cloudy and wet conditions,” advised Nel. “Speeding is one of the main causes in road accidents and fatalities, and drivers need to keep a safe following distance.”
