Aweh! Comedy Jam

ROODEPOORT – Learn how to cope with a recession, date coloured women and how not to get stabbed in the Cape Flats with Roodepoort Civic Theatre's hilarious comedy debut: Aweh! Comedy Jam.

Some of the hottest comedians in SA will take the stage in the Aweh! Comedy Jam taking place at the Roodepoort Civic Theatre from 18 to 20 December.

The not to be missed two night festival seeks not only to showcase the best of current and emerging comic talent but also explore the unique South African cultural narrative. Among the top acts featured are Jason Goliath, Richelieu B, Nicholas Goliah, Donovan Goliath and Alfred Adriaan.

Richelieu has cemented himself on the Gauteng comedy circuit performing with the country’s leading acts in a blend of quick wit, clever observations and a personality that shines through on stage as he engages his audience endearingly. His ability to roast hecklers alive is legendary.

Jason Rory Goliath is a larger than life comedian who literally is larger than life (it’s because all this personality won’t fit into a smaller body, okay). With a commanding stage presence, ridiculous amounts of energy and a character based set focused on making audiences laugh at life’s uncomfortable truths

Donovan David Goliath’s bedtime stories about growing up in the Transkei as a coloured boy who looks white but speaks fluent Xhosa are more funny than scary. In fact, it’s this life experience that launched him into comedy in the first place.
Nicholas Xavier Goliath’s straight-forward life motivates his comedy – based on true stories and strange yet funny observations from his daily life.

Nicholas is already taking the South Africa by storm and is the youngest member of the Goliath pack.

Alfred Adrian is a small town boy with a colourful family background who moved to the big city. He is a well-rounded comedian with a friendly disposition and with experience as a corporate MC for multi-nationals. He is a regular performer in the Joburg comedy scene and has worked at Parkers Comedy, AWEDnesday, The Box at Maboneng PopArt Theatre and Jive as well as other popular comedy events.

A wide range of issues will be addressed on stage including Jacob Zuma’s inability to avoid controversy and Bafana Bafana’s inability to win.
Comics will also go “grass roots” and will narrate witty coloured tales from exotic lands like Mitchell Plain and Eldorado Park.

There will also be a coloured survival guide offering tips on coping with a recession, dating coloured women and how not to get stabbed in the Cape Flats.

Aweh! Comedy Jam runs at the Roodepoort Civic Theatre from 18 – 20 December at 8pm. Tickets are R120 from Computicket/Shoprite and the theatre box office.
