Fountain of wishes helps Black Eagle project

MULDERSDIFT — Black eagle project receives generous donation from Silverstar casino and community

Silverstar casino recently handed over a cheque worth a whopping R157 433.50 to the Black Eagle project.

The cheque was handed over on 24 November and is part of Silverstar’s initiative to give back to community projects and to support local environment.

“We are honoured to be able to continuously support our community and our environment,” said Shane Collinson, Complex General Manager at Silverstar. “We are delighted to be able to make this donation and support this wonderful project.”

Part of the money collected was from guests who use the water feature sculpture in the main entrance as a wishing well by throwing coins in it. The casino regularly cleans out the coins and matches that amount.

Gerald Draper from the Black Eagle Project said, “We will use the funds for educational purposes, promotional items and to drive the advertising and branding of the project. A portion of the funds will also be used to upgrade our camera equipment, the entrance to the Walter Sisulu Botanical gardens and to supply winter uniforms to our dedicated monitoring team.”

The donation comes just in time for Christmas for the project and the work that they do with children and would certainly bring some festive cheer.

Through its various projects that uplift the community, Silverstar also donated 10 hectares of land to the Walter Sisulu Botanical gardens in 2010.
