Help the Saayman’s find Asjas

RUIMSIG – Family urges the surrounding community to help them find Asjas, their family pet – a female German shepherd crossed with a Great Dane.

After 12-years, a dog is bound to be a valued family member and this is also the case with Helen Saayman’s beloved family dog – a German shepherd crossed with a Great Dane called Asjas that mysteriously disappeared on 16 November.

“We left our house in Ruimsig next to Walnut Road at about 9am and we closed and locked the gate behind us and all of our dogs were still inside the property.”

She explained that upon their arrival back at the house at about midday, they noticed that the gate was open. “The perpetrators must have used a side cutter as the chain was cut off and the gate was standing halfway open. We immediately called the dogs and all of them were still at the back of the house but she (Asjas) wasn’t.

“Later, my husband noticed that the perpetrators only fiddled with our trailer but they didn’t steal it, the only thing they got away with was our beloved dog.”

In a wild frenzy, she called her son Jaco, and while she waited for him to arrive, she walked across the road to her neighbours who said that they didn’t see anything.

“When my son arrived, we noticed a silver coloured Jeep driving up and down our road about four times. After that, the man stopped the vehicle on the corner of Cypress and Walnut roads.”

Saayman said the man looked in the direction of their house for a couple of minutes and that’s when her son went out and walked toward the Jeep to ask the man why he was acting so strange. “While my son was busy walking towards his Jeep, the man drove off.”

“It’s been a couple of days and we still don’t know what happened to Asjas. If anyone in the Ruimsig/ Poortview area spots her, they can immediately contact me because we aren’t sure if they stole her or if she escaped somehow.”

Details: Helen Saayman 079 263 5134.
