A manhunt has been launched by Gauteng Police officers for a group of four men who have been linked to hijacking incidents in the Vaal area.
A victim who was hijacked in August said the suspects posed as police officers in a white VW Polo fitted with blue lights. Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini says the incident took place after the victim had taken bulk registration documents at the licencing office.
“The victim was driving a Proton Arena when he was confronted by the four suspects. He was forced out of the vehicle and into the suspects’ car and they let him go in Pretoria. The suspects got away with more than R3 000 and two cellphones,” added Dlamini.
The police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward to the nearest police station or contacting crime line.
