Tournament to celebrate martial arts

RADIOKOP – Tebbutt's kickboxing academy will host the all styles martial arts championships.

It will be a feast of celebrating martial arts on 10 and 11 October, when Tebbutt’s Academy together with United Martial Arts South Africa will host All Styles Championships.

The competition, which has been running for many years now, comes with a new twist this year.

With Turfontein being the new venue to host the competition, martial artists will also be able to compete in different styles.

According to Cassie Stadler, who is an instructor at Tebbutt’s Kickboxing academy which is based at Panorama Sports Club in Radiokop, they are expecting 350 participants.

“Both young and old will take part in this magnificent event.”

He added that one of the aims of hosting this event is to bring all martial artists together under one roof and compete in the All Styles Championships.

The competition is dubbed All Styles Championships because it is open to different martial arts styles from traditional karate, kung fung, judo, boxing and kickboxing.

“Everyone is welcome to compete in anything, whether it will be grappling, kata, traditional forms, creative forms, weapon forms, musical forms or tile braking,” explained Stadler.

According to Stadler, this is the only event in the country that accommodates all martial styles in one event.

Head and chief instructor of the academy Master Alex Tebbutt’s 42 years in the martial arts industry goes to prove his love for the sport.

The head also holds the eigth Dan, which is one of the highest ranking accolades in martial arts.
