Maragon delivers culture evening with a twist.

RUIMSIG- Pupils at Maragon Private Schools entertain parents and teachers with stellar performances during the culture evening.

Performing dramatised poetry, songs and dance – the pupils at Maragon Private Schools brought the hall down during the culture evening on Friday 26 September.

The participants from Grade 1 to Grade 7 showed off their skills outside the classroom in the great hall, which was filled to capacity with proud parents, teachers and friends. The lights dimmed promptly at 6:30pm and Michael Pereira recited a poem on Being the Boss.

Acting principal of the primary school Harry Bateman said the growth of cultural events and activities at the school has grown exponentially in recent years. “The pupils have shown such great skills and talents during our culture evenings and it is one of the fastest growing sectors. Every year we hand out more and more certificates and accolades toward their cultural activities but they have never let their academic work fall behind.”

The backstage crew, which included pupils from the Grade 7 class, ensured the whole concert worked brilliantly together from the lighting to the sound and props. Solo performances included guitar compositions, flutes, piano and vocals from the contestants of the Idols competitions in August.

With 31 items on the list and no indication of an interval, you would be forgiven for thinking the evening would soon run dry and the audience would soon start trickling out, however, the items seemed to end just too quickly.

There were surprisingly refreshing items, including comic monologues with one from Jack, from the nursery rhyme Jack and Jill. Bollywood dances, drama and perfectly choreographed choral verse groups all provided the audience with just a little more than a culture experience.
