A magic carpet ride for Trinityhouse

LITTLE FALLS – Trinityhouse transported audiences on a magic carpet during the school's musical.

Trinityhouse Little Falls’ The Magic Carpet Ride on 17 September blew everyone away with three themes of musical extravaganza.

Hosted by the cast of Aladdin – Aladdin, Jasmine, Monkey, Genie and the Magic Carpet itself – the audience was transported to an explosive city life experience, across the African savannah and, lastly, under the sea.

The first scene, which started off “in the city”, impressed with both on-point choreography and props that included a motorbike – driven in the hall during a wonderful rendition of Grease Lightning.

The audience was also treated to popular songs, including Dolly Parton’s Working Nine to Five and a concert favourite YMCA.

The production was stellar from the lighting and music down to the décor and props.

Trinityhouse educator Karen Cammell boasted, “every pupil in our foundation phase – Grade 1 to 3 – was in the concert. It took many months to practise and rehearse. The hard-working, dedicated team lead by Mandy Hetcher chose stunning costumes for the pupils.”

The second scene was home-based, as we drove into the African savannah with performances from The Lion King, In the Jungle and Mama Thembu’s Wedding, which got the crowd singing along and on their feet.

The concert was the first for the foundation phase at Trinityhouse and they most certainly did not disappoint on the night.

The backstage crew worked like a well-oiled machine using walkie-talkies to get everything running smoothly.

After a wonderfully entertaining night, the entire cast of The Magic Carpet Ride bid the audience farewell with an interpretation of A whole new world before the curtain closed.
