It is time to loosen up and have yourself some much-needed fun. Whether you like club hopping or just having a relaxed time with family – we have something for you.

1. Kitchener’s Carvery Bar in Braamfontein

Get ready to get moved both physically and emotionally with the melodic sounds from Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness (BCUC) and Banda who will be joining forces on 18 September to deliver some much-needed entertainment. The Live music will showcase some of Mzansi’s talents – in an evening of experimentation and fusion of African jazz and world sounds. Time: 8pm. Entrance is R40

2. ALFA Clothing Launch at Stones in Melville

ALFA is launching their new street and urban wear brand at Stones in Melville on 18 September. The creatives are originally from Maftown and promise to blow away Joburg fashion gurus. They will also be giving away tickets to Major League DJz’s gig – so if you’re keen for a double turn-up, make sure you get down to Stones. Time: 9pm.

3. Teatro at Montecasino

Cirque Eloize iD is a high-energy production that brings together timeless circus acts that even the dull can marvel at. The theater show will take place on 19 September at 8pm. It features a cast of 15 acrobats and performers, incorporated new multimedia elements, rock and electronica inspired soundtrack. The much-anticipated show is composed by Jean-Phi Goncalves and Alex McMahon. If you miss it on Friday, then catch it on Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 2pm and 6pm.

Prices range between R100 and R350.

4. Coca-Cola Dome – The Fray

Over my Head and How to save a life hit makers are making waves in the music industry. They recently released their fourth album – join them as they perform at the Coca-Cola Dome on 19 September. The four are best known for their contemporary rock sound and this is a treat you don’t want to miss.

5. Gospel goes classical SA Tour

It is time to praise the Almighty. Join the gospel singers at the Rhema Auditorium in Randburg on 20 September at 6pm.

Gospel goes classical is a ground-breaking event that showcases the best in the gospel and classical music industry. This event will be hosted for the first time in Africa, featuring Jonathan Butler, Benjamin Dube, Ntokozo Mbambo, Mahalia and First Lady.

6. A Night With Kem.

The I Can’t Stop Loving You singer Kem is heading to South Africa and will be performing on 20 September at Carnival City’s Big top arena in Johannesburg.

This event is in partnership with B3, Mzansi Magic and Kaya FM. The Detroit-based Universal Motown Records singer, songwriter and producer’s new album is creating a buzz on the social media circuit – he holds a title of having a series of gold and platinum albums.

7. Montecasino Outdoor Piazza

As a tribute to the late and great Robin Williams – Montecasino Outdoor Piazza is hosting a Movies on the Piazza event on 20 September.

The Piazza will screen three of Williams’ films for the whole family, starting with the musical Happy Feet and Happy Feet 2 and then topped off with the hilarious Mrs Doubtfire. Entrance is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Time: Happy Feet 4pm, Happy Feet 2 at 5.45pm and Mrs Doubtfire at 8pm.

8. Picnic and Mass Formation at Emmarentia, 21 September

Emmarentia Dam will come alive on 21 September as the world’s largest online activism network Avaaz, makes a mass formation in support of People Climate Match in New York. Thousands around the world will be taking to the streets raising awareness for climate change. Shots of the formation will be taken and screened at the United Nations Summit meeting. Residents are encouraged to bring their picnic goodies and also to wear white shirts in support of the worthy cause.

9. Trap Back Sundays at Kitchener’s Carvery Bar

Conclude your weekend by joining the Trap Back Sundays on 21 September and enjoy the sound of house, Afro-beat, hip-hop and techno music all in one session.
