Fora shops are in need of community support

KRUGERSDORP - Fora's charity and book shops have everything for the picky collector and nosey bookworm, but the organisation also needs your help.

The local book and charity shops that are owned by the Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) are in dire need of funds to remain open.

According to Poortview resident Julie Wasserman who also works with the organisation’s book and charity shops, Fora is run as a rescue with the purpose of rescuing and finding strays new homes. “The charity and book shops bring in a extra revenue for the organisation and we need more eyes on both of these shops.” She added that the charity shop is located in Fourth Street, Krugersdorp North just down the road from the book shop.

“The charity store is extremely empty now, although it has a couple of items in it. The thing that we need most is furniture and any items that are usable and desirable to prospective buyers.”

She added that as soon as furniture and clothes are dropped off, they are sold immediately.

“We never get to fill the store. As soon as these items come in they are immediately sold on the same day.”

Wasserman said the issue is the frequency in which these items come in.

“It doesn’t happen that often and we need it to happen on a frequent basis, and that’s why we are urging the public to drop off any unwanted goods at our shop.”

The bookshop is very popular among bookworms, but Wasserman said the shop still needs support from the public.

“Book lovers can visit our shop and bring their old books with them and take a look at the large selection of books that we have available.”

She said if people have items that they want to donate but are unable to transport them to the shop, they can call her and arrange for the goods to be collected.
