Asking Alexandria to rock Joburg

JOBURG - Metalheads, get your neck braces ready – Asking Alexandria is coming to town.

Metalheads, get your neck braces ready – Asking Alexandria is coming to town.

The British metal/hardcore outfit will rock Nasrec’s Johannesburg Expo Centre on 3 May.

Speaking on behalf of local promoters RAMTouring, Liny Kruger said, “The UK is very well-known for breaking some of rock’s most influential acts, and as of 2011, you can add Asking Alexandria’s name to this already-illustrious list.”

Kruger said the band released their debut album, Stand Up and Scream, in September 2009.

“The album quickly sent shock waves throughout the metal/hard rock underground scene,” she said.

“This was a propulsive blend of aggressive music with hints of European trance; soft, catchy melodies resulting in a sound more mature than just your average, play-by-numbers hardcore outfit.”

Asking Alexandria’s second album, Reckless and Relentless, debuted at number nine on the Billboard Top 200, and won an Independent Music Award in 2012 for best metal/hardcore album.

The band’s latest album, From Death to Destiny was released in August last year.

Guitarist Ben Bruce said, “Since our formation, we have toured all over the world, released three studio albums, and made the most amazing friends and fans along the way. We have absolutely no intention of slowing down.”

Respected local metal act, Facing the Gallows, will support Asking Alexandria’s shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The tour is sponsored by Monster Energy, Jagermeister and Music Connection.

Don’t miss Asking Alexandria on 3 May at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Hall 8, Nasrec.
