Schools Choir Festival sees Charterhouse perform with JCE choir

On Tuesday 8 October Charterhouse Choir joined five other schools for the annual Schools Choir Festival at the Linder Auditorium. The Johannesburg College of Education’s (JCE) choir was also in attendance. The theme of the evening was “Carnival of the Animals,” a musical suite composed by French Romantic composer Camille Saint-Saens.

“What a night it was. From rehearsals through to performance our Charterhouse girls and boys grew more excited as the minutes passed,” said Charterhouse Cultural HOD Bianca Crawford.

Dr Alta van As, conductor of Wits School of Education (WSoE) Choir wrote the lyrics to “Carnival of the Animals,” which all six choirs sang in unison.

“Our Charterhouse choir sang with heart and delighted the parents in their solo performances,” added Crawford.
