Please take note of the following trends which have been identified by Florida SAPS:

There has been an increase in smash and grabs at the 14th Avenue and Gordon Road off ramps from the N1 highway.

Motorists are advised to remove all valuables from the inside of the vehicle and place them in the boot. Please be alert at all times as the suspects generally work in co-operation with traders and other people at these intersections in order to distract the motorist’s attention. Florida Saps is taking measures to improve safety at these off ramps.

Drug-related arrests continue to remain high with approximately 15 to 25 arrests per week.

Florida Saps once again encourages the public to report all suspicious activities to the sector vehicles (numbers provided below) or to email any information on drug-related or other crime incidents to rautenbachc@saps.gov.za. Please be assured that all information will be treated as confidential.

A concern is that with the heightened pressure on drug dealers and users all across the province of Gauteng, the dealers are rapidly changing their areas of operation, this is why the Saps requires ongoing information from the community so that they can be aware of the new drug locations.

Suspicious vehicles are a growing phenomenon in our communities and it is important that these are reported to the sector vehicles.

These vehicles move into communities and scout the area, should you at any time feel concerned about a vehicle driving around your community please notify the sector vehicle immediately. Try and provide them with as much info as possible, make, model, colour and if possible registration number all assist in providing a lookout to the other Saps vehicles in the area. Often suspicious vehicles are located based on reports received from the community, in some cases these vehicles can be linked to crimes and illegal firearms, housebreaking implements etc. can be recovered and arrests can be made. Your report will never go to waste and it may just save someone’s life.
