Celebrate spring at Garden World’s Spring Festival

Spring is in the air and Garden World’s Spring Festival is jam-packed full of inspirational ideas on gardening and landscaping, easy water conservation tips and stunning designer gardens.

Winter is waning and the first buds of spring are out. Gardening enthusiasts are rethinking, replanting and reinventing their treasured gardens. This year’s Spring Festival will take you through a wonderland of flora and fauna, with a little something for everybody.

Visit the children’s gardens and experience the box gardens – miniature worlds alive with trees, flowers, farm animals and little people enjoying a day in the sun. Get your kids involved by bringing them along to a kids’ craft workshop where they will learn how to make bird feeders.

Experience the Diva Garden – an herb- and flower-filled garden, and the intricate and sophisticated creations of the Gauteng Floral Union’s floral extravaganzas. Get brilliant with bulbs, educated on herbs and healthy living, and experience the magnificent creations of floral artist Leon Hefer.

The prize winning gardens are a must-see. Dedicated horticulturists and landscapers came together to fashion sweet-smelling and tranquil spaces, and range from traditional cottage and edible flowers and plants, to oriental-inspired and rooftop wonderlands.

The festival’s beloved, the Gold Award winning 2013 Kirstenbosch-SA Chelsea exhibit, will be on display until 21 August and is a walk through South Africa’s most prized botanical garden. Nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch was founded to preserve South Africa’s unique flora, only indigenous plants are cultivated. This is Kirstenbosch’s 33rd win at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show.

Garden World’s Annual Spring Festival runs from 26 July to 1 September, and takes place at Garden World, Beyers Naudé Drive, Muldersdrift.
