Hundreds at weekend parkrun
Runners enjoyed the 407th park run where 11 runners reached a new milestone.
On Saturday, 11 January 978 parkrunners celebrated the new year with a morning run at Len Rutter Park.
Thami Nyembe was the first male runner to cross the finish line in a time of 18 minutes 41 seconds, and Jenna Beukes was the first female to do so in a time of 25 minutes 42 seconds.
At this, the 407th parkrun, 11 runners reached new milestones. Eight runners celebrated their 50th parkrun – André Atkins finished in 40th in 26 minutes 39 seconds; Rudy Belenger finished 108th in 31 minutes; Elaine Paxman finished 208th in 35 minutes 10 seconds; Gavin Kok finished 212th in 35 minutes 17 seconds; Beverly Lawson finished 306th in 38 minutes 57 seconds; Maria Leal finished 536th in 47 minutes 14 seconds; Valerie MaClean finished 740th in 54 minutes 49 seconds, and Ludwig Visser finished 784th in a time of 56 minutes and 19 seconds.
Three runners completed their 100th parkrun – Rolando Ndhlovo finished in sixth place in a time of 20 minutes and 38 seconds; Adielah Johnson finished 246th in 36 minutes and 23 seconds; and Koos Richards finished in 919th place in a time of one hour two minutes and 30 seconds.
Roodepoort parkrun takes place every Saturday at the Len Rutter Park and starts at 8am.
