‘Interpretation’ is defined as an opinion or explanation of the meaning of something.
Not everyone sees things the same way – they interpret things differently; it is their opinion.
We cannot always change how people see things, or their opinion of them, but we need to respect their choices despite that.
Will Smith said, “6 + 3 = 9, but so does 5 + 4. The way you do things isn’t always the only way to do them. Respect other people’s way of thinking.”
Just because something is not to our way of thinking, does not mean it is wrong, and we need to come to terms with that.
Tsem Tulku said, “Not everyone can see things the way you see them, so let go. You can’t see everything the way they see it either, so let go again.”
We can also look at interpretation as a way to change our way of thinking. If we interpret things in a new way or have new mindsets towards them, things may change for the better.
