No more peace

In the afternoon and during weekends, the youngsters occupy the park, making a noise, drinking and using drugs.

I refer to the letter from “Upset Horison” in the Roodepoort Record of 11 October 2019.

We also have a public park close to us, on McGrath Street, Witpoortjie. You cannot walk in the park because of the smell of urine everywhere, because the same people are sitting in the park day after day, from sunrise to sunset. Some of them are waiting for their children attending the primary school across the road. In the afternoon and during weekends, the youngsters occupy the park, making a noise, drinking and using drugs. A few months ago we had a group of concerned parents praying in the park for their children. I have spoken to one of the park security guards to try to find a solution, but the person was so rude, we did not achieve anything. Thank you to Johan, representing the police and the neighbourhood watch, for doing random operations in the park. I wish that we could have at least one operation per week.
