Muldersdrift Police are appealing for a lead to help them arrest bogus government officials who held a residential property owner at gunpoint on Tuesday, 9 April.

According to the spokesperson for the station, Constable Slindile Ntuli, at about 10.45am, an 80-year-old victim was at his place of residence in Lammermoor with his employees when a white Toyota Prado with no registration plates arrived on the property.

“One of the victim’s employees opened the gate and four suspects dressed extremely smartly approached the victim and his employees. The suspects identified themselves as members of the Department of Environmental Affairs,” she explained.

She added that among the four suspects were two females. “The suspects asked to use the bathroom. Then, the two women overpowered two domestic workers and forced the victim and his employees into the house at gunpoint, and during the turmoil, the victim sustained minor injuries,” Slindile explained.

She went on to say that the suspects took the victim’s cellphones and jewellery, then proceeded to the upper floor where they forced a gun safe open and took a rifle, 200 .22 rounds, and several electronic appliances, and fled the scene.

She also indicated that the suspects are still at large.
