Toastmasters show off their skills

A number of Toastmasters Clubs attended the speech contest.

 

Members of various Toastmasters clubs gathered at the Crouse Art Palet Coffee Shop on Saturday, 23 March for an outstanding speech contest and role-play competition.

The event had a high attendance of members of the different Toastmasters clubs – Bacon and Egg, Florida, Soweto Positive Speakers and West Rand – who came to support the entrants. Area S2 director, Gadifele Moeng, welcomed the attendees and did the acknowledgements, while chairperson Marlene Marsden briefed the speech contestants. Chief judge Elaine O’Gorman briefed the role-players.

The winners in the categories of International Speech Contest, Evaluation Contest and Table Topics Contest will go on to compete in the Area Division Contest in April.

In the International Speech Contest, Karen Gray from Florida was the winner, Andree Venter from Bacon and Egg was second and Lucinda Harman from Bacon and Egg was third.

In the Evaluation Contest, Bonny Matlala from Soweto Positive Speakers was the winner, Sandile Selaule from Soweto Positive Speakers was second and Karen Gray from Florida was third.

In the Table Topics Contest, Lucinda Harman from Bacon and Egg was the winner, Sandile Selaule from Soweto Positive Speakers was second and Bonny Matlala from Soweto Positive Speakers was third.
