Roodepoort’s law enforcement and emergency response entities come together once again

The meetings are also a means for law enforcement and emergency services to increase their visibility in the community.

Law enforcement often doesn’t get the recognition and appreciation it deserves, but the law enforcement entities and emergency services in Roodepoort are setting out to change that for each other.

Late last year saw Roodepoort’s numerous security companies, police officers, CPF organisations, and emergency services come together with the idea of having a monthly meeting open to all involved in any of the four sectors. It started out rather small, according to Honeydew CPF Sector 2’s public relations officer, Jon Rosenberg, who said they initially started out with about 20 vehicles from the various corners of Roodepoort.

They now meet on a monthly basis, with the aim of each meeting taking place in a different area/ precinct, and come together for about 30 minutes on a Saturday evening to show some appreciation for the amazing work they all do. The meeting gives them the chance to mingle and expand their horizons to other companies, which culminates in a large-scale prayer for the safety of the members of various entities who put their lives on the line to protect and serve the people.

The most recent meeting of the various companies and organisations took place on Hendrik Potgieter Road opposite Town Square in Weltevreden Park at 7pm on Saturday, 16 February. The meeting saw the biggest number of vehicles and individuals at a meeting yet, with more than 50 vehicles in attendance, including members from Honeydew Police, City of Joburg Emergency Management Services (Cojems), and numerous CPF organisations and security companies.

As usual, the group conducted a prayer courtesy of AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch before a Cojems fire truck made a visit and everyone went back to helping to uphold the law in Roodepoort.
