Take care in the heat

Try stay indoors between 12 noon and 3pm.

In view of the high temperatures being experienced in Gauteng, the CoJ Department of Public Safety urges residents to keep out of the sun.

Below are a few tips to keep you cool in the extreme heat:

• Drink lots of water

• Don’t spend excessive time in direct sunlight

• Apply sunscreen regularly

• Don’t leave children unattended

• Put a hat and water in your child’s schoolbag

• Ensure your pets have access to shade and water

• Use an umbrella

• Do not wear dark-coloured clothing as it attracts heat

• Try to wear your hair out of your neck and face
