Mrs Commonwealth finalist wants to make a difference with her book

‘This book has been written to inspire young and old to get back to basics and embrace God’s way of doing things’

“Being part of Mrs Commonwealth SA was an amazing experience and even though I did not win the title, I was a winner in many other aspects.

“When I look at myself now, I realise that being a finalist opened many doors for me. I met many people who influenced my life in a positive way and on many different levels,” said the 45-year-old Belincia George, who was a 2017 Mrs Commonwealth SA finalist.

She added that she discovered many abilities that she did not know she had, and said, “I raised R5 000 a month for the Mrs Commonwealth Pageant, and I also raised R33 000 for the Pink Drive. I hosted a wellness day in Eldorado Park where I grew up and I was also able to share my story with so many different people through exposure in the media.”

Belincia has always dreamt of writing a book about herself, but never believed that she could actually do it. “I was invited to the 40th birthday party of Tracy Tredrea, the host of Real Women, Real Life, which is a women’s lifestyle talk show, and was seated with four other writers. There I realised that it was ime to write a book,” she explained.

Belincia said she was encouraged by her niece, Vanessa Ndlovu, to write a book about purity. “We came up with this idea while we were busy with a study on being single. When Vanessa told me that premarital sex and its consequences were not being discussed enough in our communities and church, I decided on the topic of my book,” she said. Her book, Unlocking Love – Discovering and Rediscovering Godly Purity was launched in December last year.

“It is so much more than just another book about virginity, purity and the sometimes devastating effects of premarital sex. It has been written to inspire young and old to get back to basics and embrace God’s way of doing things. It will also equip parents with tools to approach those difficult conversations and empower the youth to make better decisions for their future, “ Belincia said.

The book is not available in bookstores yet, but can be ordered from Belincia by either contacting her on her Facebook page or visiting her website, https://www.unlockinglove.co.za.

She concluded by saying, “I will also be selecting Unlocking Love Ambassadors during February. I will teach them to make a difference in other people’s lives as well as to create their own platforms for motivational speaking, to start living their purpose.“
