On Tuesday, 15 January, at about 4.30pm, members of the Florida Crime Prevention unit were patrolling in Lange Avenue, Quellerina when they spotted a suspicious-looking silver Ford Figo.
After the suspicious vehicle with three male occupants passed them, the police made a U-turn and followed them. When the people in the car realised the police were on their tail, they sped off in an attempt to escape. However, the police caught up with them in Langlaagte, where they forced them off the road.

Two of the occupants were arrested but the third managed to escape on foot.
After radioing in the vehicle’s registration number, it was established that it had been hijacked.
