Youngsters enjoyed a game of cricket at Wanderers

They played during the lunch break at the Protea's test match

More than 280 children had the opportunity to play a game of mini cricket at the Bidvest Wanderers Cricket Stadium during the Proteas vs Pakistan test match.

This formed part of the KFC mini-cricket festival, and the children had a blast playing a few games during the lunch break. “They played in front of a crowd of almost 13 000 fans, and had the opportunity to showcase their skills. The fans enjoyed watching these future cricket stars in action,” said Shawn Bellugi from Intune Communications and Entertainment.

He added that KFC has introduced these festivals to help children get closer to their sporting heroes and to inspire them by being able to attend an International cricket match and watch their heroes play.

The children were selected from a few schools in the Johannesburg area, including Laerskool Florida, Olederile Primary School, Nsephiso Mthimkhulu Primary School, Isaacson Primary School and JB Marks Primary School.

Shawn concluded by saying that more KFC Mini Cricket Festivals will be held during the test series against Sri Lanka in February, as well as the KFC T20 Internationals against Pakistan in February and Sri Lanka in March.
