“They asked the complainant for his permit to operate the shop and also for his permit to be in South Africa. The complainant took them to the back of the shop where they demanded money. While they were still busy inside the shop, a marked police van from Florida Police coincidentally stopped outside the shop and when the suspects realised this, they took off their bullet proof vests and left them inside the shop. They then tried to flee with R5 000 cash and cellphones. They fired two shots towards the police. Two suspects fled on foot, but the police managed to arrest one of them. The other two drove off in a white VW Polo,” wrote More.

The shop owner’s version differs slightly from the police’s. He claimed that a security reaction officer and a civilian captured and arrested the suspect.
