Floroma’s annual fete needs your support

All money raised will be used to upgrade the frail care centre

The Floroma Old Aged Home’s annual Fete is being held on 3 November, and the fundraising committee is inviting the community to support them.

The fete will take place in the frail care dining room and lounge, at 1 Berlandina Street, Roodepoort, and will start at 8.30am. There will be a variety of stalls offering goods ranging from books, novelties, and handmade goods to a white elephant stall. For the hungry, there will be a lot to eat, including boerewors rolls, pancakes, puddings, cakes, cupcakes and curry and rice, just to name a few.

Natasha Calitz, who is part of the Floroma Fundraising Committee, took over the fundraising duties from 87-year-old Joy Marsh. “Floroma depends on donations and fundraising to pay for projects which cannot be done through the normal channels of procurement, and that is why we have our annual fete, which is also the biggest fundraising event on our calendar,” she said.

She added that they are hoping to raise enough money with this year’s fete to enable them to upgrade, as well as buy new bedding, pillows and mattresses for the frail care section.

For more information on the fete, contact the home on 011 760 1562 or send an email to floroma@mweb.co.za.
