“The youth are the future of our country”
My goal for this event was to give our young people a new perspective on life as a whole
The first Youth Outreach at Kloofendal Nature Reserve held on Tuesday, 2 October was a big success.
The purpose of the event was to address important topics and issues affecting the lives of the youth.
“My goal for this event was to give our young people a new perspective on life as a whole and to help them understand that they have an opportunity to leave a great legacy for those who follow. I invited young people from the surrounding areas, churches and schools. It was my first youth outreach, so it was important to keep the numbers to a maximum of 20 for it to be successful,” said event organiser, Felicia Jones.
Various guest speakers were invited to talk about relationships, substance abuse, sexual health, career choices, crime, violence, bullying, HIV/ Aids, and abuse, as well as other relevant topics.
Delina Ally, Julie Ho, Bronwynne Renecase, Freda Crowie, Jasmine Hill, Pastor Aston Gaillard, Robin-Lee Jones Captain Balana Muthan, Felicia Jones and Captain Karen Jacobs were also part of the guest list.
The youth listened to the informative guest speakers while enjoying the sun and snacks from their picnic baskets.
