Another fuel price hike horror in the pipeline

Hike once again due to weak rand and increase in international oil prices.

According to early predictions by the Central Energy Fund (CEF), the price of petrol will most likely breach the R17 mark in October.

The CEF’s calculation, contained in a report released earlier this week, was based on the dwindling rand and the price of crude oil increasing internationally. If the calculations are correct, the price of petrol will increase by R1,14 per liter next month. This will put the price of 95 octane petrol at more than R17 per liter.

Motorists and non-motorists will feel the strain as transportation costs and food prices will be affected.
