Westgate keeps Madiba’s legacy alive

Community joins hands to help local NGOs.

The staff and children at the Baby Moses Baby Sanctuary recently received some welcome donations from Westgate Super Regional Shopping Centre.

According to Gail Mashiane, the Centre’s Marketing Manager, this formed part of their community outreach programme, Live the Legacy. “We encouraged our shoppers to be part of the donation drive, and asked them to donate blankets, milk, maize meal, soup and fruit. These donations were then redistributed to three charities in Helderkruin, Princess and Kagiso,” she said.

The Centre’s previous outreach programmes were held at Tshepang in Princess and the Kagiso Child and Family Welfare in Kagiso.

Lanie de Klerk, the founder of Baby Moses, was very grateful for the donations, and said, “Thank you for giving your shoppers the platform to be able to help us. Without the help of the community, we would not be able to meet all our needs and provide for the children in our care. All donations will be distributed between our 120 beneficiaries.”
