“Soccer is my life”

"My father motivated me to play soccer because he was also a football star and I look up to him"

Three learners from Discovery Primary School have made it into the Florida Albion Football Club’s U/12 team.

Imtiyaaz Wade has been playing at the club for four years. He was 2017’s player of the year and scored over 10 goals last season. “My father motivated me to play soccer because he was also a football star and I look up to him,” he said.

Gabriel is the only girl playing for the U/12 team. She started playing at the age of three and has never stopped. She has been playing for nine years. “My father inspired me to play soccer because he was once a coach at the football club,” she said. Gabriel had the privilege of playing in Spain last year.

Calum has been playing soccer all his life. He has seven trophies, one of which is for the top goal scorer. He has qualified twice for the Rand Central team. “I started playing soccer because my brother inspired me to play,” he said.

They all wish to grow up and be professional soccer players and their biggest dream is to meet Real Madrid football player, Cristiano Ronaldo.
