#HelpFindLee WATCH: Search still on for missing three-year-old

‘We want answers'

It has been seven days since the three-year-old Liyaqat ‘Lee’ Mentoor went missing from Roodekrans in an alleged abduction.

Despite all efforts from community members, police members, various community policing forum patrollers and security companies, he has not been found yet.

“We thank everyone for the leads they have provided, and want to assure them that all information has been shared with the investigation team, which has followed up on each one – no matter how big or small.

They have been working around the clock to find Lee,” said Estelle Delport, the family representative.

Captain Sonja Prinsloo, the Roodepoort Police spokesperson, confirmed that they have been searching non-stop, and are busy investigating every lead in an attempt to find Lee. “We have left no stone unturned, and our search area has been expanded to include Helderkruin as well. The Roodepoort Police, together with the West Rand K9 unit have also searched the mother’s boyfriend’s house on more than one occasion,” Prinsloo said.

She once again appealed to the community to come forward with any information that may lead to finding Lee, and said, “If there is anyone that has any information pertaining to this case, or if there are neighbours who might have CCTV footage that shows the incident in question, we urge them to contact either the Roodepoort Police or, if they feel more comfortable, they can contact the Record, which will then send the information on to us.”

Delport concluded by thanking everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time and said, “We are trying to cope through this difficult time, and, even though it is hard, we will be strong. All we ask is that the community continues to pray and share the posters and posts.”
