Fine-free drive for libraries.

Unit is giving residents the opportunity to return their overdue books with no penalties and no questions asked.

The City of Joburg will be hosting a fine-free drive as the Library and Information Services Unit is celebrating South African Library Week from 19–25 March 2018, as stated in a recent media release.

It is indicated that the theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Libraries: heart of the Community’. The theme re-emphasises the idea that libraries belong to the community and are central to it. Joburg City libraries are at the heart of the community and are a vital resource to address community needs, such as access to books, internet services, homework support programmes and skills development programmes.

It also mentions that as part of library week celebrations, the City’s Library and Information Services Unit is giving residents the opportunity to return their overdue books with no penalties and no questions asked. This fine-free drive will run from 16–31 March 2018 at all the City’s libraries.
