Photos: Explosions heard before Helderkruin house fire

Fortunately no one was injured.

A house on Piper Close was damaged extensively by fire last night.

Two vehicles also burnt out and a lapa was damaged. Neighbours said they heard a number of explosions before and during the fire. Although the cause of the fire must still be determined, it is speculated that either gas bottles or the fuel tank of one of the vehicles, or both, exploded.

No one was injured in the fire and neighbours have rallied around the owners.

It is alleged that the fire truck took 50 minutes to arrive and again did not have water. Firefighters had to use a gardening hose in their attempt to put out the fire.
