Thirty-two suspects arrested over festive season

Special operations yield results

Special operations, coupled with stop-and-search activities and other forms of law enforcement during the festive season yielded good results.

According to Captain Nonhlanhla Khumalo, spokesperson for the Roodepoort Police, 32 suspects were arrested from 28 December to 1 January for a variety of crimes.

The suspects – aged between 19 and 55 – were arrested for the following:

• Possession of dagga

• Housebreaking and theft

• Contravention of the Liquor Act

• Shoplifting

• Rape

• Possession of suspected stolen property

• Possession of drugs

• Dealing in drugs

• Common assault

• Malicious damage to property

“All suspects were charged and detained at Roodepoort Police Station and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon,” she concluded.
