Three New Year’s babies at Flora Clinic

Proud parents show off their New Year's gifts

While residents celebrated the New Year with friends and family, the staff at the Life Flora Clinic had their hands full with the new arrivals in the maternity ward.Three babies – all girls – were welcomed on 1 January, and the proud parents were very excited to show off their new bundles of joy to the Record.

The clinic’s first arrival was Thaniah and Mohammed Ismail’s fifth child. The Florida couple’s baby girl was born at 8.31am. She weighed 3,265kg and was 50cm tall. “We named her Aafiyah, which means good health and free from all harm. Although we are very excited about our bundle of joy, we just realised that, from now on, New Year’s celebrations will always be at our house!” said Mohammed with a big smile. Aafiyah is the couple’s third girl, and they said that her two brothers and sisters were very excited about meeting the new addition to the family.

“Her birth is an indication of the future. Our New Year started on a happy note and we are looking forward to every year that will be starting with her birthday.”

She weighed 2,245kg and was 48cm tall. She is the first child of the Weltevreden Park couple, Tabassum and Sajkeel Mollagn. “We are very excited and thankful for this precious gift we received. Both our birthdays are in December, as well as our anniversary, and now we also have a New Year’s baby, meaning we will have one big party!” Tabassum said, smiling.
