Kloofendal residents to prepare for intermittent power cuts

City Power will be conducting tests at the Kloofendal substation

Kloofendal residents will be experiencing short power interruptions today (29 November) due to City Power conducting tests.

According to Sol Masolo, City Power’s spokesperson, the Kloofendal substation will be energised tomorrow, and final tests will be conducted. “These tests will be done to ensure remote monitoring is in good working condition. During this process, customers are warned that short interruptions to the power supply will occur,” he said.

Kloofendal substation is one of the substations that is being upgraded in the Roodepoort area. “This upgrade will ensure the substation will have the necessary capacity to handle the increase in supply demand,” he said.

Areas that will be affected by these interruptions include Kloofendal, Constantia Kloof, the 14th Street Shopping Precinct and surrounding areas.

He concluded by saying, “Residents are urged to plan accordingly and to always treat supply points as live.”
