More details of Lindhaven family shooting surface

Police confirm shooter is a police officer.

Roodepoort Police Station has released more information on the shooting which took place on Sunday, 19 November, in Oleander Street in Lindhaven.

According to spokesperson, Juliet Mogale, the Roodepoort Crime Office received the message that a shooting had taken place at about 2.30pm. It was determined that the shooter was a policeman, Detective Warrant Officer Ofhavhani Herold Nemugumoni (54), who is currently doing duty for the Johannesburg West Cluster. Nemugumoni used his service pistol to first shoot his wife, Phumudzo, at the gate to their home, before turning the firearm on himself. Five empty cartridges were found on the scene. Phumudzo is believed to be in her early 40s.

Mogale reported that Phumudzo is at Flora Life Clinic, in a critical but stable condition. Her husband is at Milpark Hospital, but his condition is both critical and unstable.
