#PelserTrial: Accused will testify that mother murdered baby

When the court proceedings resumed, Marthinus Pelser’s defence strategy became clearer.

His lawyer focused on the following:

• Bianca Rothman’s depression
• That it wasn’t she who wanted a divorce but him, due to her alleged mood swings
• That her medication sometimes made her forget what she had done
• That she dropped the baby during the afternoon before returning to work

At one point, the lawyer flatly told Rothman that Pelser would testify that she had murdered the baby.
