The character of the Mad Hatter has stuck through all these years and is known as the quirkiest and most insane character of all times. So much so, that the world celebrates National Mad Hatter Day on 6 October. This day has been set aside to afford you the opportunity to bring out your silly side.
The Mad Hatter is a fictional character in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that typically acts silly. That is why the creators of National Mad Hatter Day decided on a theme of silliness for this day.
Since its creation in 1986, this day has grown in popularity and in 1988 it received national press coverage. The creators of this day were a group of technicians from Boulder, Colorado and they chose 6 October because of the slip in the Mad Hatter’s top hat. The slip states: “In This Style 10/6”, which is believed to be an order to make the hat and its price.
