National Techies Day

Send a thank you card to your Techie on #NationalTechiesDay

To all the “Techies” out there, you are appreciated! And to show we are really thankful for your help, you have your very own day – National Techies Day – which is celebrated annually on 3 October.

We have all had issues with our computers: a strange noise coming from the case, laptop freezing, webcam not working, an inexplicably slow network or non-responsive printer, that have driven us insane. Luckily, we have Techies to assist with all these problems.

What exactly is a techie? It is someone who is very interested in the technology that is part and parcel of our daily lives, knows his way around it, and wants to see it get better and better. A techie will be the first person to own the latest tech toy. A techie suffers from obsolescence, the process where current technology becomes obsolete as soon as new tech gets integrated into our lives. Techies Day celebrates them and all they do to keep things moving forward.

Techies Day was originally developed for the purpose of creating awareness and educating high school students about technology careers, and Techies.com, with the support of CNET Networks established National Techies Day in 1998. The world will continue to see further integration of technology into our daily lives and with those innovations, the need for truly technologically savvy people who know their way around our technology-driven world and can help those who are not, is increasing. Skilled technology professionals will always be in demand.

Celebrate Techies Day – start with honouring and celebrating the people who keep the world moving forward for us. Send a thank you email to your techie to thank him/ her for always being there to make sure your printer is running, your network is flowing and of course, the email you just sent, being able to reach its destination.

If you are a techie, spoil yourself by getting that new gadget you’ve had your eye on for a while.
