Like every law-abiding citizen, I am very concerned about the high level of crime in my area in particular, and in Roodepoort in general.
On 8 August we were alerted via our street WhatsApp group that there was a white Citi Golf whose occupants, whom we were informed were three coloured guys, committed a housebreaking in our area during the day.
The car they were travelling in had the following registration number: WPJ 720 GP. Moments later one of the neighbours noticed people fitting the description of the said guys, travelling in a car fitting the description of the City Golf in question, and he followed them from our area all the way towards the road leading to Davidsonville.
However, by that time the said vehicle had the following registration number: SLB 068 GP. It looks like the thugs changed the number plates immediately after committing the crime. Our neighbour managed to take a short video of the car while following them. I have the clip on my phone.
These thugs need to be exposed and brought to book. I know that a case has been opened with the police but knowing how our police work, I doubt if they will ever follow up on the information supplied to them.
