Shocking allegations about Friday’s accident surface

Allegations could not be confirmed.

Four teenagers died this past Friday night when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a VW Kombi.

The accident happened on the corner of Ontdekkers Road and Golf Club Terrace. An eyewitness who narrowly escaped being involved in the collision has come forward to give his account of the tragedy.

According to the eyewitness, who asked to stay anonymous, the blame can be laid solely on the VW Kombi driver who, according to him, smashed into the Hyundai H1 minivan after skipping a red traffic light. When the Record spoke to him on Monday morning, it was clear that the accident and aftermath had traumatised him.

“I was travelling on Ontdekkers Road from Westgate in the direction of Johannesburg just before 11pm. As I was approaching the intersection of Gold Club Terrace and Ontdekkers Road I saw the VW Kombi smashing into the minivan after skipping the red traffic light. The impact forced the Hyundai into my side of the lane and I had to forcefully apply my brakes to avoid colliding with it or driving over the bodies that were flung from it,” he said. “I stopped, got out and felt the pulse of one of the young men, but there was none. The second young man died moments later.

The driver of the minivan was walking around the scene dazed and confused. All of us were confused,” he said. “No one will ever know the horror of seeing young kids die,” he said.

Meanwhile a reliable source that was on the scene said the VW Kombi’s licence had expired, the driver did not have a driver’s licence and allegedly there was alcohol in the vehicle. This could not be confirmed though.
