Hockey champs crowned
Maragon hockey team won the Prestige Tournament.
The Maragon Private Schools U/14 boys hockey team competed in the Prestige Tournament earlier this month. The week-long tournament had schools from all over the West Rand such as Hoërskool Monument, Hoërskool Roodepoort and Hoërskool Noordheuwel participating for top honours.
The Maragon team had three victories – first over Roodepoort (3–2) then Noordheuwel (4–1) and then a 3–0 win over Randfontein High School. They then drew two matches, one against Monument and the other against the Randfontein High School first team. The hard work put in by the Maragon team saw them qualifying for the finals against Monument. In the finals, Maragon defeated Monument 2–0 to be crowned overall victors in the tournament.
