Suspect commits suicide during police chase

Suspect ended his own life after fleeing from the police

A suspect, believed to have been part of a 25-man gang, ended his own life after fleeing from the police early yesterday (12 July) morning, said Provincial spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.

It is believed that the gang robbed a Shoprite store on 29 May during which the branch manager was shot dead.

A Provincial investigating team was following up on leads, which led them to the suspect’s address in Bram Fischerville. A shootout ensued, during which a detective was shot. The suspect fled, with the police in pursuit.
